Happy Easter 2016

I have to say that I think this was our best Easter yet. I have heard over the years of friends and bloggers that take the whole week before Easter, starting with Palm Sunday, to celebrate this most joyous holiday. I want my kids to know and understand the meaning of this holiday and gain their own testimonies of the magnitude and importance of the atoning sacrifice and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and this year we made a pretty good attempt to help them in the right direction. And as always, my testimony of my Savior grew and deepened as I taught my little ones.

On Palm Sunday, we reenacted the Savior entering Jerusalem on a donkey being praised by his followers and talked about what a special day that must have been for him and those who had embraced his gospel.
Wes and Thad each took a turn being Jesus and Eve dutifully waved her "palm leaf" for each of them.

We printed out a picture to go along with whatever we talked about each day and had them up all week to remind us-
Nothing fancy, but something very simple that we can build on and help our children understand and believe in Christ's divinity and the importance of his life, death and resurrection.
It was a wonderful way to go through our week and do a few of the nights with Grandma Cindy in town. She was here for egg dying on Tuesday-
and enjoyed joining us each night for a short little lesson.
It was a beautiful way to feel the spirit of Easter, I highly recommend it!

We woke up on Sunday morning, had breakfast, talked about how Christ rose on the third day and got ready for church.

The boys were so cooperative and I only had to take ONE shot of them!
Eve on the other hand...
It was a bit of work to get her to cooperate, but it was worth the trouble-

I love these three little people more than words can express and am so happy I get to spend many more Easters with them!

After a wonderful day spent at church, it was basket and egg hunting time! The Easter bunny came while we were at church and these three were SO ready to get the show on the road-

On your mark...Get set...Hunt!!

Eve may or many not have been pointed in the general direction of her basket...
(And don't mind her throbbing, red big toe...that was the last day she wore those darling silver shoes!)

The Easter Bunny officially made the entire house on limits this year, so the boys had to do some searching.

Thad may or may not have had to be pointed in the general direction of his basket...he gets his hunting skills from his mama. :(

Once they each had their baskets we headed to the back yard for the egg hunt-

Wes was the master hunter this year, he even helped Thad out a bit-

Eve managed to peep on the neighbors...

Wes drew a leprechaun trap on his new notepad. I was so impressed with his artistic skills! It's fun to see your kids develop things that you don't work on them with. He is a smarty pants.

I finished food prep for dinner while Wes and Eve snoozed and then we headed over to the Duke's for an Easter feast!
The Williams and Taylors were also at the Duke's for dinner, so we enjoyed a beautiful evening with wonderful people!
