~Grandma Teresa Visits~
As you saw in the last post, Grandma Teresa's visit started out with birthday celebrations for Thad right off the bat. She was so excited she got to be here to celebrate with our family and we were more than happy to have her with us. To continue the birthday fun, the next day we headed to the aquarium close to our house to let Thad enjoy all the ocean life.
The first thing he saw was the sea horses. It was hard to pull him away, I think he could have stared at them the whole time we were there, but after a few tears we were able to move on.
The GIANT sea turtle was next and Thad definitely loved that!

This was the shark tank. Thad wasn't as excited about it as we thought he would be...
So he just played on the stairs and moved on to the otters along with Gma Teresa.

The rest of the night was spent chilling and getting take out. Grandma Teresa got Thad another birthday present...

It has turned into his reading chair and it served as his throne while I was giving him breathing treatments last week for his bronchiolitis.
The next day was Teresa's birthday and it was so fun to have her here so we could have a birthday bash weekend! The day didn't start out too hot for her because she stayed home from church with Thad. She said she was more than thrilled to stay home with him, which we whole-heartedly believe, but we still felt bad she couldn't come and meet all the wonderful people we are so blessed to be around out here.
But that night we sure got the party going with a yummy dinner:
Frank the Fish, whose mortal probation has since ended, was luckily able to join us for that dinner.
I don't think my child ate anything that night. He is so picky. He loves cheese, peanut butter and applesauce...what are we going to do?!?
Before we got the happy cake out, some more reading had to take place, of course. Thad definitely knew who to go to when that was what he wanted. Also, don't make fun of The Little Mermaid...he loves the fish!
Then it was PARTY TIME!

We could hardly wait to sing happy birthday and cut into that cheesecake but we waited so the whole family could join. . .

Skype is such a wonderful thing, and I don't know how families lived across the country from each other before its existence. It really makes a HUGE difference!

We had to re-light the candles a few times so Thad could take a turn blowing out the happy cake.
Of course he was a ham with his aunts on the other end of Skype. He really can't get enough of those gals!

Happy Valentine's Day
We had a very interesting start to our Valentine's Day because Thad didn't sleep too well because his cough kept getting worse. :( We couldn't get to the doctor until the afternoon, so Teresa helped me make some delicious cookies for my Valentine.
A star-shaped cookie cutter was the only shape I had (until Teresa bought me some heart-shaped ones the next day at Wal-mart for half off). They turned out DELICIOUS thanks to my sis-in-law Jen and her perfect sugar cookie recipe.
We delivered the cookies and headed straight to the doctor where we found out multiple things were wrong with Thad. You would have never known this well-tempered kid was so sick! He's such a champ, and even though he was a heathen at the doctor's office he was an angel the rest of the week taking his medicine and receiving his breathing treatments.
After the going to the doctor's office and getting all his prescriptions, Brian and I were lucky enough to have a night out on the town while Thad and Gma Teresa had a Valentine's date at home.
Brian made reservations at a delicious restaurant in town called Tuscan Oven and we went all out...although I think our waitress was a little disappointed when we didn't order any alcoholic beverages or an espresso to finish off the night.
After dinner we headed to the movies and saw True Grit which we both thoroughly enjoyed. It was a quirky movie, but Brian and I enjoy those types of shows.
It was so wonderful to spend a night together as a couple. We don't get to do it too often, especially being away from family, but it's all that much sweeter when the opportunity does come up.
Goodbye Grandma Teresa
The next day it was time to say goodbye after some shopping and, of course, some lunch. We met Brian at a deli by his work, and the delis around here have yet to fail us!
Grandma Teresa, we can't tell you how wonderful it was to have you here...we enjoyed every second of it! We love you so much and can't wait to see you. Hopefully sometime very SOON!
February Finisher
There was one beautiful day like this. It seems like a lifetime ago, but it happened. Sophie and Hanna brought Thad some bubbles to cheer him up after being so sick and we had the privilege to bask in the sun without jackets on and soak up some 60 degree rays for two hours. Hanna and I swore we could go to the beach, but we held ourselves back and watched the kids release some energy in our front yard.
What great friends we have!
We had yet another birthday bash hosted at our house for the 2 little cuties on the left, Ava and Noah. They both turned 1 around the same time this month and had a combined party at our house. I think Thad liked their presents more than they did!

Our son fell asleep on the floor while Dad was on the phone and mom was surfing the web. We couldn't believe it when we saw it. It has never happened. I hope this isn't the last time either.
