Halloween Fun

Halloween is a surprisingly busy holiday when you have young kids, but they just love it so much so we try to do all the fun things that go along with it. We had such a warm and sunny October that it was hard to remember Halloween was on the horizon, but we had a few fun reminders like when House sent the most darling Halloween shirts to all the cousins around the country to sport all month-

Aren't these just so cute? She placed wood stencils on the shirts and used bleach and hydrogen peroxide to make it work and we are all just obsessed with them! You should hear Mae say "spooky spider shirt" it's really cute!
Thad got one, too, but has opted to wear it as the cutest Halloween jammies ever.

After Wes' soccer game on a Saturday we stopped at this cute little garden shop and picked out our pumpkins and some mums-
Mae was just sad she wasn't holding her baby pumpkin she picked out and was really excited to be there!

And then there was this little funny hanging around-

We carved our pumpkins the FHE before Halloween and the kids had a blast doing it!

This kind of stuff can feel really overwhelming to start, but luckily when Brian takes over it all goes pretty smooth and we had a great time.

The finished products-

Sure love these little ghouls!!

Next up was the ward Trunk-or-Treat night and we had fun dressing up for that and enjoying the last of the beautiful weather for the month!

Eve wanted to represent her Texas roots, so all the girls followed suit and dressed up as cowgirls. I scored at Once Upon a Child and was able to outfit everyone for about $30 with second hand stuff. Yay!

We got to the church and a bunch of the Young Women were also dressed as cowgirls-
Emi - Jada - Shelley - Addie - Miriam
Mae - Eve - Liv
{Dublin 1st Ward Cowgirl Association}

The Joyces also joined us, but I only got a couple pictures of Eve and Cora because they're so darn cute!

Last up...
Trick-or-Treat Night
You would think I mean Halloween, but in this case I just mean the night we Trick-or-Treat. Some places in Ohio have decided that if Halloween falls on Thursday through Sunday, Thursday will be the day to Trick-or-Treat...for safety reasons...? It will always be a mystery to me, but here I sit on Saturday, October 30 blogging about all of our completed Halloween activities and I guess I can't complain about having a quiet weekend with the family.

No costumes at school this year so we just took some pictures together before Thad split up from us to go Trick-or-Treating with his friends-
I'm glad I at least got a picture of him in this morph suit. He didn't wear it for any of the activities because it was hot and weird to wear. Lesson learned, haha!
Jas - Noah - Beckett - Jay - Thad - Simon - Kian

Groot
"I am Groot!"

The rest of us went to the Joyce's for dinner and hanging with their fun extended family-

Lola cannot get enough of Liv and carted her around showing her the Halloween fun.

We got a few pictures and homes trick-or-treated before the rain came-

And then the big kids headed out with the dads while Mae and Liv hung back with me and all the adults at the Joyce's while we passed out candy from the garage-
Mae liked dancing in the rain a little with her cowgirl hat protecting her and was excited with Celia showed up with her friends-

Wes, Eve, Ryan, and Cora were gone with Brian and Kevin for almost 2 hours and it rained the whole time, but that didn't matter to them! They had a blast!

We got home about 8:15 p.m. for the infamous candy sort and they loved seeing all they had collected!

Wes was so proud he was able to spell SNICKERS with his haul!

And that's a wrap to Halloween 2021!
Man, it is good to be back to normal this year. As crazy as this week got I wouldn't trade it for no Trunk-or-Treats or gathering for Halloween dinners any day. The pandemic continues to give me perspective and gratitude with things like this! Happy Halloween!
