We started off week #2 in Utah by saying goodbye to our Alaska cousins-
We weren't happy about it, but we sure were happy that we got to spend time with them and meet that sweetest baby Scarlett!
Thad and Wes both wanted to hold her, but Thad was done after about 60 seconds and Wes didn't want to put her down after five minutes! He just held her, snuggled her and stared at her. It was the sweetest! I think he might need another baby sister...?
No posing for these shots, just Wes being the best!
After our goodbyes we headed to Herriman to spend a day with the Madsens-
First stop was the pool! Even though it was a cloudy afternoon, we had a great time getting wet. Heidi's good friend Chantel came with her cute kids also and it was fun getting to know her after hearing a lot about her over the last few years.
Thad and Sadie were warmed up to each other from our BBQ at the Hill's, so they didn't skip a beat and had a lot of fun playing all day.
And then sweetest Wes loving on another baby...two in one day!
Baby Gordon is just perfection and I got to snuggle him tons! I am so excited for Heidi to have a little boy, she is already rockin' the #boymom thing.
We were going to head back to Grandma Cindy's for dinner, but decided to have a sleepover instead and I'm so glad we did! Grandma Cindy was nice enough to meet halfway in South Jordan to give us our PJs and we had a fun night playing with friends.
We played outside for a while (Thad got really good at the pink ride on toy) and it was all good and fun until somebody got hurt...who do you think it was? Wesley. That boy is an injury magnet I tell ya! Another scooter accident with no helmet on, but luckily the injury was on his leg and not his head this time. I was pretty ticked about it when it happened and he was freaking out, so I didn't get picture, but he went down a steep driveway on a Razor scooter and crashed. Hard. Heidi and I were outside watching all of them, but I didn't notice him at the top of the neighbor's driveway or I for sure would have told him to stop. I probably looked like a mean mom not feeling too bad for him, but how did he forget so quickly that hills and scooters do not make a good combination? Heidi and I got him cleaned up pretty quickly and he was fine once it all got bandaged up. We made everyone come in for the night and set them up for their anticipated sleep over!
They all somehow made it through the movie, but slept like champs once we turned it off. So fun!
The Madsens are wonderful hosts and I'm so glad we could spend that time in their home. I somehow didn't get a picture of Heidi and I, but we were a little preoccupied with all our little people!
We spent some more time at Grandma Cindy's house and got to see some more of our favorite people.
Isn't that baby Jay so cute?! I loved that sweetest profile looking up to the sky on a perfect summer night!
Another thing that made that summer night perfect was Uncle Birtley showing up! I didn't know he was coming until he was there and it was the perfect surprise at 9:30 p.m.! We chatted for a while and he showed my kids what was left of his work accident that shattered part of his lower leg.
That is one tough guy you see there! I hadn't quite understood exactly what happened at his shop the day he got hurt (a 1,500 lb garage door fell on him) and so he told me all the details and I love listening to him tell any story and even though it was horrible, it was a lot of fun to listen to him tell it! When he told the part about he was the calm one after it happened and was directing everyone on what to do, I wasn't one bit surprised. He is the guy you want to have around if/when mayhem hits. He is practical, decisive, calm and comforting and those things didn't escape him when he was the one in trouble. I'm so lucky to call him brother and hope to be more like him when I grow up! He stayed until almost 2 a.m. which was crazy for all of us, but I wouldn't have traded any amount of sleep for a late night with these people!
In the middle of the week we got to get together with the Christensen family and had an absolute blast! We knew were weren't going to Kanosh for the 24th, so we had to figure out a way to see all the awesome Christensen girls. We met up at the Bluffdale Splashpad and had such a wonderful afternoon.
Look at all of those cute kids!!!
We really had such a great day and I am so grateful all these wonderful women were willing to meet up with their darling kids. I married into a pretty awesome family!
And I don't know how I didn't get a picture of my kids with Avery, Kache and Aleesia, but they were there too! The splash pad was HUGE so I couldn't just let Eve run off on her own, but then I couldn't talk to everyone that I wanted to either, so I called Aunt Haley to see if she would bring Avery down to hang with Eve. She was able to and it worked out perfectly. Right when Haley was dropping her off we saw Kache and Aleesia who were there with some of their friends! How funny is that?! So my kids ended up hanging out with their Wilson cousins a lot, but they weren't too disappointed about that. Win - win!
Right after our fun day at the splash pad, we headed up to Cache Valley to spend a couple days with the Millers (and a few other people), but that deserves a post of it's own!
Yes, lots of people were there (Even if you can't tell who they are. Thanks a lot stranger photographer girl.)!
I ended our second week with that dinner I was supposed to have with my girlfriends from Connecticut the week before and it was a blast! Lindsey and Emily unfortunately couldn't make it last minute, but Nicki, Jamie, Kristin and I met at Settebello's in Salt Lake and had a wonderful evening chatting without kids. I didn't get a picture before Kristin had to leave, but Jamie, Nicki and I stayed later and could have stayed longer if it would have worked!
We had some great conversation about motherhood, friendship, marriage and many other topics! These nights are good for my soul and I'm so grateful these girls took the time to meet up with me a couple times during our trip. Yay for Utah being the crossroads of all the good people!
