The Cabin

The past couple of summers I have mentioned the cabin to Teresa because we went a few years without going and it is something I want my kids to remember. I always remember going to my Grandpa Wilson's house in Fairview growing up and those are some of my fondest memories. I don't know how long the cabin will be around, but while it is I love that Grandma Teresa and Grandpa Russ are so generous to share it with us and help our kids develop some of their fondest memories.

We got there late Thursday night, got a good night's rest and and headed out on a 4-wheeler ride first thing the next morning. Grandma was so kind to stay back with Eve so I could join all the boys.

It was so cute to see Thad with Grandpa Russ as he was teaching Thad the ropes of driving the 4-wheeler. Thad was so excited and picked up on it pretty quick.

We stopped at this look out point and down at the bend of the road we saw a black bear...yes, you read that right, a BLACK BEAR! Luckily we were far away and it was walking away from us, but it was still pretty shocking to see!

That afternoon the boys were so excited to go fishing with daddy and Grandpa Russ and the streams treated them well!

I love seeing our boys do these types of things with their dad and grandpa. This was Wes' first time so he was over the moon and Brian said they both did a fantastic job at staying quiet and doing their part to catch the fish. I can't wait to see how these fishing trips develop over the years.

Before we knew it, it was Friday afternoon and Aunt Kelli, Wells, Aunt Kayci and Uncle Derek joined us and we had so much fun playing games, eating all the food, walking all the walks, laughing all the laughs, going on 4-wheeler rides and sitting by the fire.

We missed Uncle Merit so much, but were thinking of him often!

Friday evening was spent in the "backyard" as the kids anxiously awaited the fire to be started and the s'mores to be eaten.

Cousins.

Derek came up with an awesome game that turned into quite the entertainment for the remainder of the trip. All you need is two logs and some rocks and you are set up for hours of entertainment!

First one to knock the top one off = WINNER

I think it's safe to say we have a fun grandma on our hands!

Fire Time!

Thad read us some scriptures before it got too late. His summer goal was to read that whole Book of Mormon book and he finished last night. I'm so proud of him!

The fire was a blast, but the repercussions of it were not. We did not feed the kids dinner since we were full from lunch and they didn't ask and then we let them eat s'mores, Starbursts and other yummy campfire treats. Well, Wes' stomach did NOT agree with that plan (or lack thereof) and when Brian and I laid down at midnight Wes decided to barf up all those treats he'd eaten. It was like reliving the terrible nightmare of all of us being sick at the cabin last summer and we were so nervous we were going to get everyone sick. We figured it was the lack of dinner and excess of treats because he asked to go to bed and did not have a fever or saying he felt yucky otherwise. We got it all cleaned up, put a bucket next to him and said a little prayer it wouldn't happen again. Our prayers were answered and we did not have to deal with barfing children all night and he was as chipper as ever the next morning. Luckily we were able to laugh it off and finish our stay on a high note with yummy food, naps and more nature.

Thad made it on both sides of the panorama and was pretty proud of himself!

We didn't get to stay long, but it was long enough to get a taste of those gorgeous mountains and to not be connected for a couple days. Not having cell phone service is one of my favorite things about that place. Thank you again, Grandma and Grandpa, it was fabulous!
