Cache Valley with the Millers

We had to head up north to see the Millers because no Utah trip is complete without it. Not only does one of our very favorite families live there, but it is always a joy to spend time in that place where our marriage and family started ten years ago. I love to drive by our old apartments, show Thad where he was born and just bask in the glow of that beautiful valley.

We headed up Monday morning, but had to make a stop to see Amy Ivins and her darling girls. Amy lives in Bountiful now, but it was the perfect beginning to our Cache Valley trip because that is where my friendship with that beautiful girl all started and it had been three too many years since I had seen her!
Amy is an exceptional host and made me and my kids feel like a million bucks! I think my kids had three cookies and a popsicle during our 90 minute stay, she let them play with whatever and was just the sweetest. I'm so grateful we were able to have this visit and see her beautiful home and girl. It is always so rewarding to stay caught up with old friends.

Amy was one of the very first people I told I was pregnant with Thad while working at the USU Bookstore and now we have five kids between us. It's pretty incredible what a little time can do!

Soon enough we were off to Cache Valley to spend two whole days with the Millers. It was July 11, so after a yummy lunch at Great Harvest we did what everyone else was doing and headed to 7-11 for free Slurpees.

And not surprisingly our afternoon passed entirely too fast while kids played in the back yard, babies took naps and moms talked and talked and talked.

We decided to do something super fun and pulled ourselves together pretty quick for an evening at Hyrum Dam. Do not ask me how I had never been there before...It was amazing!

Things started out pretty chilly, but between pizza and kayaking the kids didn't seem to mind one bit.

Bre has entered the vlogging world with her adorable family and it was fun to see her at work-

I could not get enough of the view. It was pretty amazing and I soaked it all in.

This is the only pic I got of Derek and it was kinda funny because Bre and I thought we could take seven kids, four kayaks and all of our other beach gear with just two adults. Yeah right. It was so good he decided to tag along because we would have been a hot mess!

We tried our hardest to make Emmy and Eve be best friends and even though Emmy bullied Eve a little and Eve just took it (even though Eve is clearly bigger, stronger and faster), I'm sure they will come around and be besties just like their mommas!
Having babies two days apart with your best friend is pretty amazing.

Thad and Brielle always get along so well and I love when I see our Thad getting along with girls because he acts so put off by them when we're at home. He is in the thick of the "girls have cooties" phase, but I'm always glad to know he doesn't really think it!

Like I said, having babies two days apart is awesome, but I'm ok not repeating it again 14 months later-
Haha!
Bre is the best momma of four I ever did know and I'm glad she was able to repeat the baby thing 14 months later because those babies sure look good on her!

What a successful night we had at the beach with our babes!

After kids got cleaned up, we HAD to get a treat and the kids were not disappointed about that either-

After a good nights rest, a sweat session at the gym and lounging in our pjs all morning, we headed up to campus for some lunch and Aggie Ice Cream.

Babies in big hats are pretty perfect.

Wes and Emmy have a connection. I know it and hope it lasts forever!

After we had our ice cream is when we drove around the valley checking out our old stomping grounds and showing Thad where he lived the first 1.5 years of his life (again).
It was really bright out, but they were good sports and become stronger and stronger Aggie fans every time we go on campus!

We were sad to leave these beautiful views (yes this is Bre's backyard view), but we loved every minute with the Millers and can't wait until next time.

Stay pretty, Cache Valley. Until we meet again!
