We only had half of August to wrap up our summer before school started, and after our big trip to Utah and all the swimming and camps we we participated in the first couple months of summer, we mostly just took it easy. We enjoyed not having a schedule and being together (minus Mae).
Thad got braces on-
He made some delicious blueberry muffins for YM and documented the process-
And was my best pal for all of my evening walks with Liv while Brian was out of town for a conference-
Mae lived it up for three weeks on her own in Utah and hung with the best grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins-
Mae definitely had some struggles getting passed around to the very best people and not being sure as a three year old what was happening, but absolutely had a wonderful time letting these people love on her! She toted around with Grandmas, slept over with cousins, became an Egan for few days, got to join a family campout, and so many more bonding experiences. Although tears were shed, I am so grateful she had this experience with our Utah family that loves her so much!
Liv was my best little buddy while Mae was gone and we had a great time with the big kids-
Such a cool baby!
My good friend Lori Von Cannon came to visit from Utah, he first time back to Ohio since she moved in summer 2020, and it was so fun to see her a few weeks after we saw her and Derek in Utah-
Melissa, Lori, Greta, and I went paddle boarding and it was SO FUN!
Will definitely have to do this again!
On August 10 Brian started having stomach pain in the evening around 7:30pm and nothing he did could relieve the pain. When I went to bed at 11:00pm and he was struggling to stand up straight (he is not dramatic, so I was definitely worried), I told him to wake me if he needed anything. When he woke me up at 3am and told me he needed me to take him to the ER, I didn't hesitate! He hadn't been able to sleep all night, continued to try and relieve it, prayed about it, and found peace with the decision to head to the hospital. I'm so glad he didn't wait any longer because, sure enough, he had appendicitis! Yikes! They couldn't get him into surgery right away, so he spent the majority of the day on pain meds at the hospital and went into the OR at 5:00pm on August 11. Everything went smoothly, he woke from anesthesia well, and we were out the door by 8:45pm! He's a champ!
The girls and I visited mid-day and then I came back that evening on my own to be with him for the surgery.
He was first and foremost worried about his well being, but after that he was most worried about if this would derail him from training for the Chicago Marathon in October. Walking out of the hospital 3 hours post-op made him much more confident and recovery has gone very smoothly and he is on track to run!
Thad had a football scrimmage the weekend before school started and got us excited for fall-
Love these boys of ours!
And that's a summer wrap for the Monsens!
