Brian left the day after his 10-year reunion and drove the Neon down to Austin. The car had its issues, but the Lord was definitely watching over us and he made it down in two days like he had hoped to do. He arrived and held the fort down for a few days until I flew down -by myself- at the end of the week.
It was hard to say goodbye to Utah, but we were ready to be in our own place and the summer was an absolute blast!
I arrived Friday afternoon and we deep cleaned the kitchen, got some groceries, and got rested up for the big moving day on Saturday morning.
Here we are, once again, being helped by total strangers who are just amazing.
The church is true, people.
What a mess...
A beautiful mess!
We were just so grateful we had 6-7 guys that showed up to help and we got every last belonging into that house and it only took a few hours!
It was awesome.
And then...lucky me...I had ONE WHOLE WEEK to unpack CHILD FREE!!!
What?! How, you ask?
The BEST grandmothers in the whole world. That's how.
The beautiful ladies we call our mothers kept our boys for 6 days in Utah and then drove with them for 21 HOURS in our mini van. And they did not complain once or hesitate for one second when I presented the idea.
This move went incredibly smooth and it is all thanks to these ladies. Not having kids part of the equation in an already chaotic situation, makes things 1000 times easier. I don't think we could say thank you enough. We love you, Grandma Cindy and Grandma Teresa!
So I unpacked and these ladies took care of our kids. Here they are in Monticello for lunch their first day:
Look how calm and collected everyone is.
And sadly, this is the only picture from the entire road trip.
They do have some good stories to tell, though! i.e. Teresa wouldn't ditch her massive mug that didn't fit well in our shallow drink holders and it tipped over way too many times causing some not-so-ladylike words to escape my mother's mouth. Those two recalling the situation is way funnier than me typing it, so ask Grandma Cindy about that some time if you want to see how annoying it really was!
They arrived late Friday night and we had the weekend to spend with them before they left Monday night.
We pulled out the fake mustaches and Wes wasn't too sure about daddy with a mustache!
We headed downtown to check out campus and eat at Hopdoddy's because Brian and I had talked about it all summer and the grandmas wanted to check it out.
We tried about a hundred times and Wes WOULD NOT hold still.
Sunday we went to church and these ladies were awesome enough to play Hungry Hippos with Mr. Thad. It was kind of like Christmas at our house because the boys hadn't seen their toys for three whole months! Thad was pumped!
There was all sorts of cackling and slander going on during this intense game of Hungry Hippos. It looks friendly enough, but there were all sorts of, "You're cheating!" and "I'm the best, huh Thad?!".
Haha! I love these ladies so much and I love how they think they are so funny which ends up being funny, so it really ends up being entertaining for all!! What a great grandmother pair they make!
On their last day, we checked out a few more eateries and soaked up as much of each other's company as we could because we're not totally sure the next time we will all see each other.
And then, all too soon, it was time to say goodbye.
Thad was kinda teasing and wouldn't let go of Grandma Teresa and it was cute, but then we really didn't want them to go, so then it was kinda sad.
Those boys love their grandmas and I love them too.
Our hello to Austin was a good one, and we definitely got off on the right foot with getting the majority of our stuff unpacked and exploring a little bit with grandmas before they had to go.
We live a somewhat crazy life, but experiences like these remind me how much fun it really is!
Thanks again to the best two grandmas EVER!
