We had a perfect snow day here in Texas on December 7! It was totally unexpected and that made it all the better. Thad had come home from school and told me Mr. Organ let them go outside at the end of the day because there were snowflakes falling. I totally didn't believe him because I had been sitting on my couch folding laundry and watching a show and didn't notice a thing out the window right by me! Well, Brian had left for Miami that day and we decided we wanted to go see Santa at Bass Pro shops that lovely, chilly Thursday evening and had a really good time-
Eve asked for a pink princess dress, and I don't think Santa had any problem with that.
Thad asked for Chip, the robot dog (which he later changed to a fitbit when he realized it wasn't as cool as he thought), and Wes asked for a Megalodon monster truck toy (which he had never mentioned before). Good thing they had that meeting!
Santa asked if they had been good and reminded them to keep being good and they left that visit feeling pretty optimistic!
We played around for a while, checked out the aquarium and decided to finally head home...
Well, you can't really tell from the picture above, but when we came out it was SNOWING!! Right after our awesome visit with Santa, we came out to some magical little snowflakes! I apologized to Thad right away for not believing him and we stayed in the parking lot for about 10 minutes Snap Chatting everyone we know and super excited because we thought it might stop like it did earlier in the day.
We headed home and it just kept coming! The flakes kept getting bigger and then it started sticking! It was so exciting! It hasn't snowed like that since we've been here and according to all our Texan neighbors it had been a really long time since it happened at all. It was just so magical!

The magical-ness wore off for Eve after I let her hold a snowball and eat it and she realized her hands started burning! She cried for a bit and took a break inside by the Christmas tree under a blanket-
The boys kept going strong and had ate up every second in the snow!
Wes did take a little break for some hot chocolate and toast, but Thad didn't want to miss a moment and made this awesome snowball-
Eve was ready for round two so we all went out for another 30-45 minutes before we had to start getting ready for bed.
Listen, I know I have hot chocolate remnants on my chin #reallife, but sometimes you just have to post a cute picture of you and your daughter regardless.
Naiya pulled out her snow cone flavors and they all enjoyed a snow cone...because they could!
Thad kept making his snowball bigger and bigger and he ended up winning the unofficial "biggest snowball making" competition.
Eve started to get mad/cold again-
And it was close to bedtime, so we wrapped things up and called it a night.
A pretty magical December night, indeed.
The only thing that could have made it better is if dad was around to enjoy it with us, but instead he was in Miami enjoying the 75*-80* weather! So funny!
The next morning we woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland! I didn't think it would stick overnight, but it sure did and it was so fun to have a snowy morning to take the kids to school in. It definitely made me feel a little nostalgic about all the winter school mornings I experienced as a kid. Although, with Brian's Ohio, Wisconsin and Indiana interviews, I'm pretty sure we won't be feeling deprived of wintery school mornings much longer!
