Halloween Fun

Our Halloween fun started the weekend before the big day with our ward's Fall Festival and it was a blast as usual! These kids were so excited to finally dress up in their costumes we had been talking about for a couple months!

Zombie:

Hot Wheels Race Car Driver:

Dorothy:

We watched the Wizard of Oz for the first time this summer and Eve totally drank the Kool-aid when I told her she could be Dorothy because Sevi already had the costume. She sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" frequently when in costume.
She ate it up and pulled it off perfectly!

Thad had to let me do his makeup for this costume-
And he wasn't too excited about getting it done, but mostly just ended up being grateful he doesn't have to wear makeup every day! We totally homemade his costume and he had a lot of fun watching it all come together.

We had a mini photo shoot before heading to the church-

We didn't do a family theme this year, but we threw in the Wicked Witch of the West and Ira Glass, just for good measure!

These three looked awesome! And we only spent about $7 total!
Aunt Brigitte sent Wes' costume from Utah, we only bought the socks for Eve's and makeup for Thad's face!
Cheap + Cute = AWESOME

We got to the church and had so much fun seeing ward members and friends in their costumes!

The hayride was the perfect touch!

My cute Young Women, Maddy and Addie!
Brian and I were on the committee for putting this together again and luckily it was with a bunch of other awesome people and we got the youth to run all of our games for us.

Wes and Evan hung out all night and loved it. They started out trunk or treating together, but Wes was super excited and sped ahead and did his own thing...I love that little ball of energy!

After the festival we headed back to the party in our cul de sac! We were sad we couldn't be there for the whole party, but they had a lot of fun and we got to hang out for about 1.5 hours before we got too cold and tired.

Best. Neighbors. Ever.

HALLOWEEN rolled around and we were so excited to do it all over again!

In the morning Abby, Lizzy and I took our cute kiddos over to the celebrations at Old Settler's Park and we had a lot of fun even though it was pretty dang cold! 52* on Halloween in Texas is pretty unusual, but it definitely kept the crowds low and we had a lot of fun.

The weather was pretty finicky all day and it started raining around 4pm on top of the cooler temperatures and that made us pretty nervous. We still went ahead and got ready (with some warmer underclothing), visited Liz that we hadn't seen in far too long, ate dinner and then the clouds parted for a couple hours of perfect trick or treating weather!

Thad saved this open wound tattoo for Halloween night and it was a total hit!

Wendy is the cutest and set up a little table and the kids loved going to her house first!

We sure love these neighbor friends of ours and are so happy we have been able to go trick or treating with some of them all FIVE of the Halloweens we have been here!

I just had to zoom in on Eve and Brookie being so cute!

And after pictures and the "go ahead" from parents, the kids were finally off to TRICK OR TREAT!

We lasted almost two hours and everyone got a pretty decent haul that we have been enjoying the past couple days-

I have to say it was another successful Halloween around these parts! It was very different to have warm clothes on, but we were just happy it wasn't raining.
It was the perfect last Halloween in Texas for our family. With the holidays approaching we have been talking a lot about how all of our "lasts" are coming up and this Halloween is really just the beginning of the end of those. Luckily my kids don't act too sad about it, mostly just matter of fact. Texas has treated us so well and I know we are all just so grateful for these five wonderful years we have had here. I hope the rest of our "lasts" are as good as this one!
Happy Halloween 2017
