Brian's birthday was the second day of school so we did some early celebrating (as well as day of) because we knew things would be a lot busier on his day. I actually gave in to his constant request of an early birthday present and gave him his new GPS watch a week before his birthday!
I don't love the idea of early birthday presents and Brian knows that, but he was so so so so excited when we got it in the mail and it was burning a hole in his brain that he couldn't have it! I held onto it for a few days, but gave in last minute (hence the post-it note) and gave it to him a week early. He had some down time to figure it out and he was just so happy that it didn't even matter it wasn't his birthday!
The Saturday before we invited the Monsens down from Waco to go swimming and do dinner and cake and we had a blast!
We usually get together with them on Sundays, so it was fun to have them down on a Saturday and do a fun activity together. It was so hot that week, too!
After swimming we enjoyed a yummy dinner and CAKE!
German chocolate cake isn't the kids' favorite (yet), but Todd and Kelsie appreciate it because Todd grew up with it from Grandma Teresa's kitchen just like daddy did, so it was perfect! We had some Blue Bell ice cream too, so nobody was complaining.
Brian said the one thing he really wanted to do on his birthday was go running. Easy peasy!
He started his run when the boys headed to school on their scooters and Eve trailed behind screaming, "Wait, guys! Wait!"
She got over it pretty quick, but I got a pretty good laugh out of it! She is so jealous her brothers get to go to school, but is excited to start "preschool" with her friends soon.
I got him to myself while the kids were at school!
We dropped Eve off with a friend and went on a day date and had a lot of fun! Matinee movies and lunch specials are what parents' dreams are made of!
That evening we celebrated and sang happy birthday to him one last time over his favorite Mint Chocolate Chip Blue Bell ice cream-
