Our Easter celebrations did not disappoint this year.
The boys and I started off with an egg hunt and Easter Bunny sighting at Stew Leonard's with the Russ kids.
Thad was obviously not a fan of the Easter Bunny.
Emily's kids loved him...or it..or whatever.
I forced him into this picture and he was not happy about it. Maybe next year.
The funny thing is, he didn't have a problem with the other giant costumed animals throughout the store. So funny.
Thad scored a free ice cream cone along with Zack and Alex, and Lila scored a $25 gift card to Toys R Us. We made out like bandits!
Good Friday
We (us, the Jensens and Farrs) weren't the only ones that thought it would be fun to head to NYC.
There were tons of people everywhere and it was hard to navigate through Times Square, but we made it down to Madison Square Park and although it was crazy crowded too, the kids loved it.
I got nervous that I lost Thad a few times in the crowd, but he was always close by.
Wes wasn't the biggest fan of the park, as he is not walking yet, and I won't let him crawl around on the asphalt. I really hope that walking of his picks up soon because we will all be a little happier when it comes to being outside!
After the park we had dinner at Shake Shack and then our wonderful husbands took six children home on the train to watch some March Madness basketball at the Farrs.
People opted not to sit by them.
The guys said they were awesome tho and it wouldn't have been a a problem.
We have the best hubbies ever. Really.
Meanwhile, us girls crashed four Broadway box offices to see if they had reasonably priced tickets for shows that started in 45 minutes.
Newsies: Sold out
Nice Work if you Can Get It: $150
Mama Mia: 2 for $75, 1 for $130
Jersey Boys: 2 for $199, 1 for $150
We were being cheapskates and didn't want to pay more than $70.
We stuck around at the Jersey Boys box office, and at 7:58pm Camille successfully negotiated 6th, 7th, and 12th row tickets for $62.50/ticket. It was a miracle. And a really fun show!
We were all surprised that we knew most of the songs, and we loved the main guy, Frankie Valli. We all agreed we would have him sing us to sleep every night!
It was a seriously fun night, and we loved living on the edge a little negotiating for our tickets!
Ward Easter Egg Hunt
These two are the cutest best friends ever.
Emily and I are still pretending that we are not moving. It is really wrong that these two are going to be separated.
I just have to keep thinking how grateful I am that this friendship was even able to happen.
Egg Dying
This boy was so sweet and cheesed it up ALL weekend!
Easter
Thad was so excited that it was finally time to come downstairs!
He was so patient and waited about an hour for little brother to wake up and join in on the fun.
Wes was happy he waited.
We made Thad search for and find his basket before he could start collecting eggs.
Four year olds aren't the best seekers, so we had to give him some subtle suggestions about where to look. i.e. "Open things up, Thad..."
**Cha Ching**
That genuine smile is mainly because of that Hulk he is holding.
This boy loves super heroes and this is the first Hulk he has owned.
Wes wasn't a good seeker either and just checked out Thad's loot while Thad got on with the egg hunt!
He did pretty darn good finding all the eggs solo, as Wes was not the slight bit interested.
Good work, Superman!
We finally decided to let little Wes in on the fun:
And these little cheesy smiles are just my FAVORITE!
We really can't get enough of him around these parts.
Pure love!
*Success*
Can I just tell you that I love my kids' feet? I don't know what it is, but I do!
After a yummy breakfast of German Pancakes and some lounging, we were all dolled up for church with our handsome boys sporting their handsome ties, courtesy of Grandma Teresa.
We topped the celebrations off with a delicious dinner with great friends!
This was the only picture taken because the kids were getting along so good and it was just relaxing to sit and not worry about anything. Or think. So no pictures.
I was a little nervous this dinner wasn't going to happen as Thad was a little under the weather, but they risked it and we had a very fun evening together!
Easter 2013 was definitely a success.
I'm grateful for my family that I got to celebrate this holiday with them.
I'm grateful for a Savior that sacrificed all to overcome the bands of death so that I may be made perfect through Him and spend eternity with my family if I choose.
He is Risen
