Christmas Day

So Wes only woke up a couple times in the night, we got things cleaned up and we all got a good four hours of sleep until Thad was ready to get up and going at 7:30 a.m. Dad went down to check things out and then it was time for me and the boys to make our way down.

Sleepy, scary smiles!
(Don’t worry, these jammies went right in the washer the first time he threw up in hopes he could wear them for the main event. It worked!)

Thad was excited that Santa brought him a Lego table for the Legos that we got him!

Wes was more excited than he looks, but not by much.
We were lucky that he was feeling good during presents, because the rest of the day…not so much.

After these boys saw their tables, we all got to work opening some fun stuff:

Brian and I have wanted to see the Rockettes at Radio City the whole time we have lived here, so this was the year!

It was so fun to open all those presents together and to see Thad so excited about it all.
We didn’t rush, and we checked out every toy and item as it was opened.
We had nowhere to go and no one to see as we canceled our plans with our friends to avoid spreading the bug Wes had.
We just stayed and basked in the awesomeness of Christmas morning.

Thad suffered from a tiny case of cabin fever, and spent a little time here:

This poor baby had a few more baths and PJ changes throughout the day, but continued being mostly pleasant.
A few times, I wanted to feel bad for us and thought, “Out of all the days to be sick, it had to be today?” And then I saw and thought about how blessed we really are.
We have a home, gifts, family and the truth.
We know why we are celebrating. Not just that our Savior was born, but why he was born.
We are able to return to our Heavenly Father because of Him and his infinite atonement.
What a beautiful truth to know and to celebrate.
I think the joy of that truth trumps the inconvenience of canceling plans and cleaning up puke.
We are truly blessed and had a wonderful Christmas to prove it!

By the end of the night, this boy was all smiles and no more puke on the horizon.

Thad and dad got a shower just in time for bed, and this picture pretty much sums up our whole day.
We had fun lounging, discovering and enjoying each other.

Yay that looks so fun! So sad for little Wes, but he is such a trooper! I got the same US weekly magazine too!

Hmm, I was just wondering if that US magazine was your way of announcing something to the world? ;)
