I decided at the beginning of the year that I wanted our family to do a beach vacation and I thought it would be even better if we could do it with family...well, I talked to Kelli and Kelsie about it and they were on board and we booked our vacation for the end of April. This has been one of the most fun trips our family has taken and we are so glad we got to do it with people we love, it makes it that much more special!
The Egans flew into Corpus Christi on Friday afternoon while our family and Todd and Kelsie's family drove the four hours south. We got stuck in line at the ferry for about 40 minutes so we got to our house a little late, but Brian dropped me and the kids off and headed straight to Corpus to get the Egans and our groceries that we ordered from HEB (such a time saver!).
Everyone got to the house, settled and we headed straight down to the beach to soak up some fun in the sun!
Eve's bum cheeks totally got burnt because they were hanging out!
The beach was fantastic, but the kids didn't mind heading back to the house because it was pretty awesome itself. And Eve looks good in shades, don't you think?!
Maybe Wells rocks her flip flops better than her!
The boys tried to make it to the end of the Jazz game after dinner, but didn't succeed...they were pooped!
Oh, Wes.
Saturday the kids were up and bright and early enjoying the salty breeze on the deck with Brian-
We hung around and took it pretty easy in the morning before heading to the beach for a full day-
The cousins had so much fun!
And cutest Wells discovered this hole in the deck where he could peek down on beach goers (clothed family members) showering off the sand. It was so adorable to watch him do it for several minutes at a time.
The kids were so happy when it was finally time to hit the beach!
(And Kelsie brought her professional camera and skills to the beach this day so all the exceptional pictures are from her!)
Todd didn't get help with his back the day before and ended up with an awesome red patch! We gave him a hard time but he was a good sport!
It was a perfect beach day with these perfect people!
Wells may have had this face a lot over the weekend, but how can you not love him anyways? It's a pretty cute cry face, if I say so myself!
After a great afternoon at the beach, we came back to the house for some down time and dinner before heading back to the beach for round two!
ROUND 2-
I can't say enough of how perfect this beach day was! Our boys were in boogie-board heaven, Eve didn't even blink when the waves were neck high and cousins doing it all with cousins just makes everything better!
I kind of love this awesome family and the only thing that could have made it better would have been to have more family there!
The weather really cooled down over night so Sunday morning we headed to Texas SandFest to check out all the creations.
But first everyone got really excited about this alligator game of Wells' and had to crowd around it and be crazy!
And Merit had to school Thad a bit on the "court!"
We didn't even know the SandFest was going to be in town that weekend, but it ended up being such a fun surprise!
We weren't sure what to expect when we got there, but we were all pretty impressed!
Harambe was definitely a hit-
This was the perfect activity for the cool, windy morning that it was.
We made our way down the beach to find a spot and play in the water and although Eve looked perfectly adorable on the walk down...
Things went south real quick. (We should have taken a hint when NO ONE else was on the beach)
The boys discovered they had bad chaffing from the day before once they got wet and Eve was freezing once her whole body got wet (along with June and Chirstian)...so, we headed back to the beach house, got everyone taken care of and spent a wonderful morning and afternoon relaxing at our awesome beach house.
I even got to finish my book, "When Breath Becomes Air" out on the deck while the kids were napping and resting, so it was all around a win-win for everyone!
Our second attempt at the beach on Sunday night was much more successful and we soaked up our last night on the beach at Port Aransas!
I love these SILs of mine so much and loved planning and carrying out this vacation with them! I can't wait until we can do it again!
I know the sun was *bright* (just ask Wes), but that pretty much sums up the entire weekend we had in Port A with some of our very favorite people, even if it did leave us feeling like this...
Worth every tiring second!
At the end of the trip, Kelli, Kelsie and I realized we didn't leave the beach house once (the boys made a couple grocery and What-a-Burger runs) and we couldn't have been happier about it!
Monday morning we got packed up and headed north for lunch at Hopdoddy to top off our awesome trip. This beach vacay is definitely one for the books!
