Thad’s First T-ball Game

Watching our boys grow is so rewarding, and days like today are like icing on the cake. Thad has had two t-ball practices and although none of the kids are truly sure about what’s going on, it is so adorable to watch them figure it out. Watching Thad learn how to bat and figure out the best way to catch a ball is so fun.

Thad is still practicing stepping forward with his opposite foot when he throws and breaking his wrist when he bats, but he gives it his best at practice and it paid off for his first game.

He was so excited to get on the field and one of the few children to be watching and paying attention to the batters. I don’t think he ever got a ball (we need to work on speed), but he sure knew what was up and ran for that ball every time.

The game started right before Wes’ naptime and he was kind of a terror-
IMG_0844
He entertained himself a little here and there, but luckily he has the best dad around…
IMG_0858
Who chased him everywhere and watched the game with him from every different angle.
My boys are lucky, but I think I’m luckier.

After the game I asked him what his favorite part was and he said batting. I wasn’t surprised.
He did such a good job and got it on the first swing both times he was up to bat!

We sure are proud of our little slugger and can’t wait to see his growth in the things he loves over the years.

Spring Break

Whenever Dad has a break from school, we are all happy campers!
We headed to the dollar movies:

Wes did pretty good, but I think we will take a break from him and theaters for a while.

We wanted to do something fabulous like go to Enchanted Rock, the children’s museum or downtown, but we ended up going on a local “hike” in Cedar Park.

The Texan scenery is fun to check out with the cacti and rocks and the caves we came across were fun to learn about too!
IMG_8986
It was a 1.6 mile walk and Wes walked 1.5 of it! I was impressed and at the end he was pooped, to say the least.
IMG_8999

But the boys’  favorite part of the whole break was camping in the back yard with dad!

As you can tell, they had tons of funsies! Wes had to sleep inside, but didn’t notice brother sneak out when they were going to bed, so it wasn’t a big deal at all.

So if you can’t tell, these boys are slightly obsessed with this dad of theirs-
IMG_8966
I kind of am too, so I don’t blame them. They have one of the best!
Thad still asks on occasion when spring break will be again and we have to tell him next year.
I love that he looks forward to days with his daddy!

February Snippets

Valentine’s Day
IMG_0750
We didn’t do a whole lot around these parts to celebrate V-day except wear red and have some yummy treats.
For FHE the week of, we wrote on hearts some things we love about each other and hung them on the door.

Luckily we have some really cute boys and we got some perfect pictures of them in red, showing their love.

Thad chose Lego Star Wars valentines and Skittles to pass out to his cute class.
I think all of the girls wanted him to be their Valentine…Look at those eyes!

And then, just a little reminder that Wes LOVES cars and is too cute when he is so focused on them!

We had some beautiful and not so beautiful weather this month.
I’ll start off with the beautiful:

Isn’t it amazing that we can do all of these things in FEBRUARY?!
I let Wes get a little carried away the day we washed the car. I snapped this picture right before things got crazy and he was soaked from his hair to his toes by the time we were finished!

The not-so-beautiful:

This “crazy” storm shut all of Austin down. School was canceled, the whole bit. It gave all us Utahns a good laugh!

Our Runnin’ Man:
BrianRun
The weekend Brigitte was here, Brian headed down to Houston with John Partridge, a ward member, to run this awesome 20 mile trail race.
He trained pretty intensely for about eight weeks, and it paid off! He took second overall and first in his age division!
He tried to play it down that there weren’t very many racers (about 50-60), but I don’t care – second place after 20 miles…that’s awesome!!
He was bummed there wasn’t a marathon a couple weeks after since he had put all of that time in, but I know one day I will be blogging about this guy qualifying for the Boston.

My Boys
CatWes
We put a headlamp on Wes and he turned into a cat!

I put the slide on the other side of the counter for a while, and there was either fighting about who was standing there or compromising that looked like this:
IMG_8800
I like the compromise.

IMG_8899
Again, Wes loves vehicles.

WesThadLove
I love that these boys love being by each other. I love that Wes just wants to rest his hand on Thad and I love that Thad doesn’t mind one bit. Beautiful brothers.

IMG_8798
I also love that our boys maul their dad whenever possible, especially when he has a video to show them or a book to read…

And occasionally, when the moment is right, that mauling transfers to mom-

And I REALLY love that.
