The boys figured out ice cream in crepes while the girls were in Texas and they tried to make us jealous but it didn't really work because we were eating Round Rock Donuts, Hopdoddy's, Jack Allen's, and Blue Bell Ice Cream...that stuff is kinda hard to beat.
Wes has had a fleshy mole on his cheek for 3-4 years and we finally said goodbye to it this month...for good.
He had laser treatments done to it back in December but they didn't work so he had it shaved off at the end of January but the labs came back with some atypical cells so he had to go back and get it totally removed under his skin. This picture is what it looked like shaved off, but the incision to remove it was pretty gnarly! He's going to have a decent scar, but we are so glad it's finally gone!
I know I don't always post about things Dad does, but he is a very busy man. He had a couple of fun Young Men's activities this month-
A cooking competition at our house and then an American Nija Warrior activity where he thought he injured his heel, but it was actually fine. Getting old is annoying.
Brian has a lot of running shoes.
Like a lot. He finds shoes he likes and orders them over and over again. The man runs a ton of miles so he makes sure to have a good rotation and tries to buy them when they go on sale for the next model. But really, these three are just a tiny fraction the running shoes that keep him a happy, healthy runner!
Eve had a winter wonderland family activity night at her school and even though Dad couldn't make it we had a good time!
The Evelyns
Both blondies, both born in Texas, both sassy, and the sweetest set of friends!
Celebrating Thad's golden birthday was the highlight of our month-
Luckily he got this fun gift from Grandma Teresa and Grandpa Russ to help get us through the next week...
Influenza A hit our family pretty hard...everyone except for me had it. Wes was the first, it had been going around in in his classroom, and then it was downhill from there...
Brian got the first official diagnosis and it ended up taking him out for 5 whole days. It was not fun. We set up the air mattress in the bonus room and I think that saved me from getting it. I am so grateful I didn't get it!
Mae hated being sick.
(Please note the drool spot on my arm from crying and drooling and being sad before she fell asleep like that.)
Poor girlfriend!
Thad came down with it shortly after and luckily we were able to get some Tamiflu for him and Eve before it hit her too hard. Thad was the only one that threw up and Eve just had a fever for a day or so, but this was my view for several days-
I took the picture above and sent it to Brian's family saying, "Happy Valentine's Day!" Isn't that the saddest?! Wes had basically recovered at this point, but Brian, Thad, and Eve were still coming out of it.
Luckily Eve wasn't sick the day of her Valentine's party and she went all decked out-
She made some of the cutest stuff throughout the month, too-
Eve continues to enjoy dance and was so happy when she matched with her
friend Callie on Valentine's Day (we didn't realize she actually had the
flu until after dance that day).
This was our message after everyone was sick...should have been there before!
One really sad thing about the flu is that Thad had to miss his last travel basketball tournament. He had already missed lots of games because they played almost every Sunday and he chose not to play, but then he got sick and couldn't even go. It was such a bummer to end his first year of travel. But here are the few pictures we have of him this season-
He did have such a good time playing more competitively this year and we hope he always has fun when he plays!
Besides the awful Influenza week, Mae was thoroughly enjoyed by all-
(Just testing out her weight limits)
She loves to watch her people and can't wait for the day she joins!
Luckily all the big kids were healthy and able to attend their first Blue Jackets hockey game for DRE spirit night-
The all left with a bunch of SWAG and didn't get home until after 10pm on a school night, so they all loved it!
I threw a baby shower for my friend, Hayley Mangelson. It is her second baby but first girl so we had to celebrate! I only got pictures of the decor, but we had a wonderful time celebrating her!
I know we're going to miss scenes like these in the much nearer future than we think-
Man, these kids sure make our world go 'round-
