January in Texas

We didn't get back to Texas until January 16th after all of our holiday hoopla and amazing trip to Mexico! It took me a while to get back in the swing of running a household, but kids don't skip a beat and they were happy to be home!

I don't think Eve used a spoon much in Utah and was struggling a little bit regaining those skills. ;-)

She pretty much can't help but be cute all the other times she is doing all the other things!

This girl is going places~
And is the biggest helper!
My boys watched me close, but this girlfriend watches me closer than they ever did! She wants to do what all the big people do and she is climber, charmer and a doer so she pretty much gets whatever she wants! Just yesterday she brought the toilet brush out to me after giving it a few swishes in the toilet first...of course dripping on the carpet in my bedroom out to the landing at the top of the stairs. She is my naughtiest baby for sure! ;-)

And sometimes she is bossy and yells at me and steals my sunglasses...

But we love her all the same!!!

Wes had his birthday the weekend after we got home-

And dad headed to Newport Beach for another sunny January weekend for a conference and went on some beautiful runs!

We also had to get to work on Thad's science fair project that we had known about since November. Thad joined Science Society this year at school and as a member they encourage all to participate. We were going to work on it in Utah but fun, sickness and forgetfulness got in the way and we didn't even give it a glance.
Thad decided he wanted it to be exercise related and we came up with an experiment to measure his heart rate in the morning and evening doing the same exercises to see which time of day would be more effective in burning calories.

We stayed up an hour past bedtime the night before it was due, but he was a good sport and we had a lot of fun putting it together! When he was so tired and sick of tracing and writing we just kept reminding him about all the fun we had in Utah...it was so worth the delayed bedtime!

(Kaveesh won first grade. His dad is a chemist and he is a smart kid and they knocked it out of the park!)

Kinder and First Graders could opt out of being judged and so we did just that because we were working on it so last minute. Well, when it come down to it Thad did such a good job and it was kind of a bummer that he wasn't being interviewed. The judging/interviewing took place after school, so when Wes and Eve woke up from their naps the four of us went back up to the school to see if they could squeeze him in...and yay! They did! Here he is talking to the judges and being a boss. I love that kid so much and am so proud of him for jumping into things like this.

And here are some random January moments that make me happy:
