March

Early in March we had an "ice day" which meant the district thought that it MIGHT rain and freeze over night, so they canceled school the night before...just in case...Oh, Texas.
It ended up being a sunny, cold and windy day so we ran some errands, built a fort and enjoyed the cutest Eve there ever was.

During Wes' nap Thad and Eve got some one on one time and Thad couldn't be more happy about that. He is head over heels for that baby girl of ours!

Wes, Eve and I decided to meet Thad for lunch one day after Thad and I didn't say goodbye on a good note when he left for school.
Just as I had guessed, Thad wasn't harboring any bad feelings, but it was just what I needed and we all left with smiles on our face!

I decided it was time for a change with my hair and snipped a few inches-
I'm no good in the selfie department, but you get the idea, right?
So far I'm loving the less time it takes to style my hair, it was just what I needed!

Brian's Uncle Bryce and Aunt Sharlene that live a couple hours north of us (and that I have never met) were passing through Round Rock and stopped by one Friday night.

Contrary to the look on Wes' face, he was pretty obsessed with them both! They are such great people and it didn't take the boys long to act like they had known then their whole lives. We are so glad we finally got to see them while living in Texas!

Since Daylight Savings finally happened and the weather has been warmer here and there, Sunday walks to the park are happening every now and then.

The boys get so excited when we say yes. If it was up to me I would sit on the couch all day long and nap and eat. Good thing I have them to keep me in line!

It's not secret, but our Thad is a smarty pants! At the beginning of the year we signed him up to participate in Math Pentathalon. He has stayed an extra hour every Monday after school and learned how to play math related games with 10 other kids in Kindergarten and First Grade and it all led up to the tournament that was held the last Saturday of March.

Brian was able to attend all day and volunteer as one of the game monitors/refs. The entire program is parent volunteer based so along with the two moms that coached every week, I went in four different times throughout the year and helped out. Thad loved it every time Brian and I were able to help out and we are so glad he loved it and wants to play next year (because I think Brian would make him do it no matter what).
Thad received an honorable mention because he won more games than he lost, 3-2. He was happy with that and most of all I think he was happy to spend the day with his dad. He is such a good kid.

On a beautiful Saturday I was able to go meet Emily and Katie at the food trucks in Austin because Emily flew into the Austin airport to stay with Katie down in Houston for a week.
I wasn't able to see this gal at Christmas, so I was so happy when this worked out! I love her so much and it has been fun to see her as she parents her first little babe. She has a heart of gold and that Porter is lucky to call her mom.

Thad brought some school work home that Brian and I got a kick out of, so I had to document!
My Dad "goes to school."
His job is important because "he will learn."
My mom "stays home."
Her job is important because "if she wasn't a mom she won't/wouldn't take care of me."
We sure love that boy.
They learned a lot about poems during March and he got really into it and would write poems about anything he could think of. He would spend thirty minutes on my phone typing these out and it made me so happy!

I love that he loves to learn and that he soaks it up and understands it.
I hope this quality rubs off onto his siblings, but I have a feeling it won't be the same with them all!

And to end this post, a few fun shots-
