The holidays were such wonderful time for us to catch up with friends and renew some friendships after our ward being split, being busy with Brian's new job and pregnancy.
Since the party wasn't until later, Thad and Dad had to take advantage of the beautiful weather and headed down to the harbor on a walk. It was their lucky day and they discovered this gem being prepped for a New Year's Eve party on the water:
Thad was so excited about the huge boat and nobody was on it...
so they headed on up and checked things out for themselves.
Thad ate it up! What kid wouldn't love checking out a random, huge party boat?
A good part of the day was also spent doing this:
Like father, like son. :)
These boys are two peas in a pod and enjoy doing just about anything together.
We were excited to get together with a few friends to ring in the new year. It was a perfect way to spend our last night of 2011!
Braden and Megan were gracious enough to host at their home, and the party got started right away!
Thad was so excited to be with friends after hanging out with Mom and Dad all day.
(Just wanted to reiterate that they all have "Cheese!" down to a 'T'.)
We played a new version of White Elephant and it was so fun!
Everyone got a roll of 50 pennies and we got to bid on the gifts...so clever!
We made out like bandits with a candle, a homemade checkerboard game, and...
Usher's Truth Tour DVD!
Scott scored an identical neck pillow that Brian got on Christmas Eve...yes, Braden and Megan had TWO! Josh got a brownie skillet and Braden unfortunately stole the holiday tie that plays music from me.
The gals.

Soon enough it was time for the kiddos to head to bed to let the parents party hard, so we gave Thad his annual, dual, smooshed-face New Year's kiss:
And sported our sweet glasses Dad got us in Times Square!
He was pretty exhausted and gladly laid down in his fire truck jammies with his frog pillow.
Love him!
2012 came in a flash and we had a joyous celebration!
2011 was a great year to the Monsen family. It has been such a great blessing to spend another year together, just the 3 of us, and we wouldn't have changed a thing. We are happy and healthy and excited for what 2012 has to bring for the 4 of us! What a blessing it is to be growing together as a family in Connecticut. The Lord knows us and is definitely watching over us.
