The balcony at the apartments is just going to have to do for now.
He just walked back and forth and loved being outside!
There was a lot of falling, but he's such a big boy and can stand up all by himself
Thad loved the camera!
We just left the front door open and he went in an out. How fun!
This was the day before when someone came to our door and we just left it open to play
He loves doing the new squint/smile face for the camera...what a ham!
We've recently discovered that he LOVES this giraffe blanket. We had it out the other day, I rolled it up and put it on the side of the couch and he kept hanging out in that little corner where I couldn't see him and when I went to see what he was doing, he was cuddling w/ this blanket...what a sweetie!
Things are great at the Monsen home! We still don't have a start date for Brian's job in CT, but we know it's in July for sure so we're still waiting for an exact day so we can make some more detailed plan. We're still quite a ways out, but it's just nice to know exactly what you're up to.
Thad and I just love playing all day and lately I have enjoyed reading so much during his nap times (and sometimes not during that time). My sis-in-law Kelsie has lent me a lot of books and I have loved all of them. Some of them are: The Passion of Artemesia, The Red Tent, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and I just bought The Maze Runner, so I have just had been filled w/ great stories. I've just got like 100 pages left in Catching Fire and I'm totally obsessed! I'm not even done and I can't wait for the third one!
I have a random question for some moms: do any of your kids have night terrors? Thad woke up crying hysterically for the third time in his life last night and it's really scary because he is still sleeping and won't respond to anything. His eyes are mostly shut and he won't let us comfort him. He cried for about 4 minutes straight, which is a really long time when you don't know what's going on but he finally stopped, but was really touchy even after that. We tried shaking (not hard, just gently) him a little, putting cold water on his face, blowing in his face, turning on the lights but to no avail until he just finally came out of it. Has anyone dealt w/ this and have any suggestions? If yes, just let me know.

What a doll! I have to see him soon :) That is sad about his night terror or whatever. I hope he doesn't have them anymore!
may i please have thad.
thanks.
just send him to me.
or i can come pick him up.
but i would like to keep him forever.
My boys used to get them and the advise I have got from 3 different Dr's is to just check on them and make sure they are safe (i.e. not out of bed) but do not touch or talk to them as this will only intensify the terror for them. They need to just be able to get out of it on there own which usually only takes a few minutes. It's hard to just have to sit there I know, but I noticed when I finally did they didn't last as long.
Shell... we love the same books!! I read the passion of artemesia and the rent tent a few years ago and LOVED them, and I just finished Catching Fire about 2 weeks ago! We've got the same style, YAHOO!!
As for Thad, yeah we've experienced the night terrors quite a bit. Lincoln will still randomly get them. They are so weird. We just basically would try and help him wake up and snap out of it. That always helped for us. Sometimes I would just hold him and rock him a little and they usually stopped pretty quick. Good luck, they are a little scary, but pretty normal I think.
I am so glad I found your cute blog. Thad is such a doll and is getting so big!
Hunter had night terrors quite a bit and all we could do was just wait it through with him. I hated sitting there listening to him scream. Nothing would wake him up out of them and he wouldn't let us comfort him at all so we would just sit with him. He eventually just grew out of it. Good luck. I'm glad to see all is well with your cute little family and good luck with the big move!
Ben has night terrors a lot too. I've tried to rock him, but it doesn't work. I've tried water also with no results. Now I just cock his shotgun and he snaps out of it instantly. Something about the sound that calms him. It seriously freaks me out....Things you don't know until you marry someone! :) JK.
Sorry - not a mom yet! Thad is seriously so cute though. Love that kid!
