Wes was so excited to turn 10 and hit those double digits, finally, and we were so excited to celebrate him! We recently watched Groundhog Day with Bill Murray and I told Wes I was going to make sure January 21 was like Groundhog Day in that movie and he would never be able to turn 10! He didn't buy it and I couldn't work it out, so he woke up on his bday ready to celebrate-
Yes, it was still dark outside on his Saturday birthday because the kid couldn't sleep.
We made him wait until everyone else woke up to open all presents, but I updated his memory book so he and Thad had some fun looking through that while we waited-
I go all out for Birthday breakfasts and got him his fave cereal-
The girls finally made their way down and Wes got right to it!
He got those presents opened and basked in their glory while Thad and Eve split his Saturday chore of vacuuming -- he was so happy when they said they would do it!
We got everyone ready to go watch him in his basketball game-
And even though his team didn't win, we had a lot of fun watching him!
He chose Wendy's for lunch so we grabbed that and went home to enjoy it. One of his favorite things to do is play video games, so that's what he and Thad did for a couple hours before his little birthday party.
His sweet Primary teacher, Sister Rieser, stopped by to wish him a happy bday and give him a hug-
It just makes my heart so happy when people care about my family :)
Wes got a couple FaceTime calls from the people that care about him far away-
In the late afternoon Cohen and Ryan came over and Dad took them, Thad, and Eve to Urban Air for a couple hours per Wes' request. No parties this year, just fun with friends and family!

After a couple hours at Urban Air everyone came back and had fettuccine alfredo per Wes' request-
We had such a yummy dinner and then pulled out the ice cream cake from Graeter's that was also delicious-
A couple more presents was super fun and then the boys played video games for about an hour until 9pm and it was just the perfect 10th bday celebration for our Wes.
Oh, Wesley! We just love you so much and are so grateful for the amazing decade we've had with you! Thank you for being you, we wouldn't be the same without you,
TEN things we love about Wes-
10. His hair. It will always be on the list because it is the best.
9. Book worm boy. This boy LOVES fantasy and plows through books faster than we can keep up!
8. Solitude. This boy likes his alone time and I love that he knows he needs it and fills his cup.
7. Big brains. This is a term the kids use in all sorts of situations, but Wes is big brains and we love how he connects unlikely dots and enjoys things many other 10 year olds would not.
6. Piano man. It has been so fun to watch him learn and do well with piano the last couple years.
5. Friend. Wes is a kid others want to be around and is a great little friend.
4. Unapologetic. This is meant in the very best way -- Wes is unapologetically himself and I am so grateful he is embracing all the things that don't always align with the popular opinion. Keep loving all the things regardless of what others think, Wes!
3. Baby brother. Watching Wes with babies is the best and watching him with his last baby sister this past year has been a joy.
2. Note writer. Wes writes the best notes to me, his teachers, and friends when he needs to. I don't think he even realizes it, but he is so thoughtful and easily puts his thoughts on paper.
1. Easy. This kid is pretty even keel and his mostly predictable happy nature makes him easy and enjoyable to be with.
